How you Profit from Reforestation

How you Profit from Reforestation

This is the process you can expect when you purchase trees with us

  1. The process begins with deforested land purchased by TreeBanking, Inc. in developing tropical countries. The land is legally "converted" to an ecological easement that specifies that the land can only be used for reforestation for 99 years (the same type of easement used by the Nature Conservancy).

  1. In order to replant a rainforest, a pioneer species of Teak must first be planted to provide shade for native species that are accustomed to growing under the canopy of the rainforest.
  2. You decide that purchasing tropical hardwoods fits into your long-term investment strategy (click here to view Tree Purchase Agreement). The trees you purchase are planted on TreeBanking's plantations as rainforest reforestation projects.

  1. You have no ownership interest in the land, only trees.
  2. The tree ownership is established very specifically.
      • An ownership certificate is issued to you at time of purchase stating the quantity and type of trees purchased.
      • A second certificate is issued to you one year from date of purchase (this is the time required to insure that you get the best quality trees for your money), stating the exact location of your trees (ie: Farm-field-plot-row-tree #, including GPS coordinates).
  1. TreeBanking, Inc. guarantees the trees for two years. We replace any problem trees at no expense to you. After two years the trees are established and very rarely encounter any problems.
  2. Minimum purchase of 25 trees at $38.50 each. Volume discounts are available (click here for price list).
  3. Initial purchase price covers maintenance for the entire life of the trees.
  4. Harvesting/thinning the trees begins between years 5-7 and continues through year 25. All your trees will be harvested by year 25. This timing is established by a licensed forestry engineer.

Thinning & Harvesting Thinning & Harvesting

  1. As your trees are harvested you are paid the profit from the sale of the lumber, and native species are planted in place of the teak trees.
  2. TreeBanking, Inc. can sell the lumber for you at fair market value, for 6% of the net profit.
  3. By year 25, all of the Teak trees are harvested and we leave a new rainforest in our path.
